The Lethbridge Association of the Blind (LAB) is a valuable resource in Lethbridge for blind and visually impaired persons residing in Southern Alberta.
Have you heard about them?
LAB is a not for profit organization the was set up to provide social and recreational activities for blind or visually impaired people in the Lethbridge area. These activities give blind and visually impaired individuals the opportunity to meet other persons with similar problems, help them to deal with their vision loss and help each of us to develop a positive attitude towards our visual impairment.
While Linda and I have been getting out into the community and working with our clients, we have noticed that there is a percentage that do have visual impairment and many of you HAVE NOT heard about LAB and the services they can provide for you.
Monthly Dinners and Barbecues:
September is almost here. LAB does offer monthly get together throughout the year to give members the opportunity to get out and meet other individuals. They arrange a wonderful meal and entertainment. LAB also offers transportation to get you there and home again (but if they can’t, you can certainly call on us).
The LAB dinners are generally held the last Thursday of every month.
LAB operates a Five Pin Bowling League at the Holiday Bowl. They bowl every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and transportation to and from the Holiday Bowl is provided (or again, call Sunshine to help transport you there). The cost is $120.00 per year to the bowler. All other fees are subsidized from donations made to our organization from
Lions Clubs. All visually impaired individuals are welcome to join in.
As a group LAB attends theatre presentations, concerts, museums tours and more.
